Frequently Asked Questions
How much will it cost me to own and operate a stinger?
We have a wide range of new and used stingers available. Depending on the equipment, most of our customers cost, to own and operate stingers, range from $0.80 to $2.50 per bale
How does the cost to own and operate a stinger compare to pull type bale wagons?
Stingers are designed and hand built from the ground up, including our LE hayloader chassis that accounts for more than half the cost of our total unit. When comparing new or used self propelled stingers to similar new or used pulltype units along with a comparable power source, stingers are usually on average one third less total capital cost.
Will my stinger handle wet bales?
Yes, you can handle wet bales with a stinger. Stingers come standard with an oiler system that allows you to keep the bed of the machine coated with mineral oil. Stingers can handle up to a 3000 lb bale.
I purchased my Stinger in 2011 for $205,000.00.
Over the course of the next 9 years I stacked 200,000 bales at an average of $3.50/bale custom rate. I figure my cost including payment over those 9 years was $1.75/bale
As of 2020 My 9 year old Stinger is still worth $180,000 with 2500 hours and has made me $350,000 above my cost of operation while also paying myself $25/hr. for every hour I spent stacking bales. If i sold that unit today my Stinger would have made me over $65,000/year for only 2500 hours stacking.
